Safety

Catania's historic centre is generally lively and populated until late, which makes it possible to get around on foot comfortably in the evening. As in any city, the usual precautions apply:

• Keep an eye on bags and valuables, especially in crowded areas.
• Avoid leaving valuables visible inside a parked car.
• Use licensed taxis and authorised transport.
• Use ordinary caution in crowded areas and at night, as in any city.
• In case of emergency, call 112.
