In Catania we're lucky enough to have something rare: within just a few kilometres you go from golden sand to black lava rock — two completely different sea experiences, both unmissable.

The Playa — the sandy beach
South of the city, Catania's longest beach: golden sand, shallow water perfect for children, and kilometres of beach clubs with sunbeds, restaurants and music. The “holiday” beach, very popular with locals too.

The lava-rock coast
To the north, from Ognina to Aci Trezza and Aci Castello: black lava rock plunging into deep, crystal-clear water — ideal for snorkelling. The famous Cyclops' Sea Stacks rise just off Aci Trezza. Less crowded than La Playa.
Tip Ask at reception for the current recommended beach clubs — they change from season to season.
